The Wellesley unveils luxurious ‘King of Truffles’ menu

29 November 2016 – To celebrate the Italian truffle season, boutique-grand hotel The Wellesley in Knightsbridge has revealed its new White Truffle Menu, served in the bijou Oval Restaurant. Artfully designed by talented Head Chef Sebastiono Cioffi, the menu features dishes that all use white Alba truffles, hand-sourced in Northern Italy.

Known as the ‘King of Truffles’, the white Alba truffle is found only in the small market town of Alba in the Piedmont region and draws visitors from all over the world. Desired for its intricate marbling and intoxicating aroma, this species is blessed with a flavour that is gastronomically unique.

The luxurious menu is compiled of seven dishes; each designed to showcase and complement the rare ingredient. Ranging from the light Beef Tartare, served with confit egg yolk and hazlenut sauce (£80), to the Parmesan Risotto with carnaroli gran riserva (£70) and a rich and creamy Burrata Pizza (£200), each dish will be served with five grams of truffle.

The Oval Restaurant offers an intimate and sophisticated dining experience, using only the freshest ingredients, with fine presentation and impeccable service. Its design evokes the elegance and glamour of the 1920’s with Art Deco inspired features, such as the intricate marble inlaid floor which is inspired by an elegant luxury sunburst clutch by Judith Leiber.

In keeping with the Italian theme, the bathrooms throughout the hotel are made from slabs of beautiful veined Arabescato Corchia marble from the Cararra region, which were hand selected by the designers.
