Shortlisted bars revealed for Time Out London Bar Awards

Annual Global Bar Awards celebrate the best venues and the industry talent

that define London’s bar scene

Time Out, the leading global media and entertainment brand that inspires and enables people to make the most of the city, reveals the shortlist of its second annual London Bar Awards. The programme celebrates the best places to drink, the most outstanding bar teams and extravagant bar designs in the capital and another seven vibrant cities around the world.The 2017 London shortlist showcases bars that represent bold innovation, extraordinary design and infinite creativity with ever-trendy east London taking out more nominations than any other borough and Soho as well as Dalston regaining their status as go-to bar destinations. Notable nominees from other areas include the South Bank’s swanky Dandelyan, which scooped up three nominations including the much-coveted Bar of the Year, Best Bar Team and Most Creative Drinks List. Soho’s Bar Termini, Bad Sports Bar, Satan’s Whiskers, Black Rock, Swift, Three Sheets, Untitled and The Connaught Bar got two nominations each. The winners of this year’s London awards, presented in association with Southern Comfort, will be announced at a glitzy award event on June 5.

Time Out has assembled the best of the bar world to be part of an industry-renowned panel of judges including experts, award-winning bartenders and drinks journalists who have selected the shortlist of finalists and will vote for the winners. In London, panellists include Lucy Britner (deputy editor of Just-Drinks.com) Leon Dalloway (founder of Gin Journey), Ryan Chetiyawardana (founder of Dandelyan and Super Lyan), Davide Segat (Bar Manager at Bar of the Year Award 2016 winner Punch Room at The London Edition), Time Out’s own editorial team and many more iconic industry professionals.

This year’s expert panels were tasked with shortlisting their standout achievements across categories such as Bar of the Year, Best New Bar, Best Bar Team, Best Bar Design, Best Single-Focus Bar and Most Creative Drinks List.

Throughout the award programme, presenting sponsor of the London Bar Awards, Southern Comfort, have the chance to engage with industry influencers, bartenders, venue owners and ambassadors as well as with Time Out’s audience who go to a bar on average ten times a month.

Time Out has been the authority on city living since 1968, seeking out the brilliant in the world’s best cities – and bars have always been a central part of that. The Bar Awards programme brings together expert curated content about bar and drink trends across Time Out’s digital, social, print and event channels, creating a tailored and impactful platform for brand partners and local businesses.

This year, the Time Out Bar Awards are taking place in the U.S. in NYC, Chicago, L.A., Miami and Austin and in Europe in Paris, Lisbon and London.
