Richmond Hill Hotel stamps its independent spirit with multi-million pound investment

Richmond Hill Hotel, a rural retreat on London’s leafy doorstep, is undergoing a capital investment programme that will assert Richmond as a go to destination in 2019.

The Georgian townhouse is undergoing a £6.7 million refurbishment programme, which will see the Richmond hotel stand proud as a 144 bedroom property. Each of the 69 Georgian bedrooms are being individually designed with a nod to the local character, history and tradition of Richmond and will complement the contemporary ‘Hill Collection’ rooms. The interiors will draw upon existing characteristics to create clean line silhouettes and an overarching sense of tranquillity. A Georgian colour palate has been used throughout and Richmond designer blacksmith Joshua de Lisle has been commissioned to create bespoke detailing in the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms.

The hotel has been meticulous with its design detail and will use British and local artisans and cabinet makers. The refurbishment programme has been devised by award-winning K&H Design who have drawn on Richmond’s wider influences that have inspired artists and writers for hundreds of years. Bedrooms feature Heal’s king-size beds with furniture commissioned to fit within each of the individual room styles. Deep free-standing baths or spacious walk in showers will further enhance the familial townhouse experience.

As part of its environmental commitment Richmond Hill Hotel has implemented a series of sustainability initiatives in a continued effort to reduce its carbon footprint. Green initiatives such as energy saving key systems, dimmers and low energy lighting have been installed wherever possible and each of the Grade II listed windows have been sympathetically restored and repurposed to retain heat.

Richmond Hill Hotel is also undertaking a major remodelling of its food and beverage outlet bringing a new all-day dining destination to the village. Designed by award-winning Russell Sage Studio, the space has been devised as a place to kick back, to brunch, lunch or dine, or celebrate a milestone. The club like feel is also set to become a new space for today’s working lifestyle.

Diane Tapner-Evans, General Manager at Richmond Hill Hotel, says: “Richmond has been a source of inspiration for world famous artists and writers over the years and we have used these influences throughout the design process. Our Georgian townhouse has been designed for both business and leisure guests as a space to provide solace and escape from our busy lifestyles. The team have worked tirelessly to create an unrivalled reputation and now it’s time to give the village a new focus at the top of the hill.”

Richmond Hill Hotel is a longstanding popular destination due to its versatile facilities and proximity to Heathrow and Central London. At the edge of Richmond Park, the hotel affords guests 2,500 acres of greenery and commanding views of the Thames.
