TheFork, the leading online restaurant reservation platform, is mobilised to support the restaurant industry and has announced the launch of a new takeaway and delivery feature, which will help restaurants to offset the loss of income due to Covid-19.
This service, created in response to the first lockdown, will be offered free-of-charge to support restaurants’ revenues during their public closure.
During the first wave of Covid-19 TheFork carried out a survey* showing that prior to Covid-related disruptions only 18% of our restaurant partners offered a takeaway or delivery service. However, since disruptions 50% of our restaurants explored takeaway or delivery options, and now 73% of those are eager to continue offering this service to diners.
From today, TheFork’s current restaurant partners who are providing a takeaway service can now promote their offering on TheFork’s website and app, completely free of charge. Diners who want to enjoy dishes from their favourite local eatery from their home can find restaurants through dedicated marketing banners.
We hope this feature will not only help restaurants generate extra revenue and enable them to tackle restaurant capacity constraints due to Covid-19 and counterbalance lower demand, but also make ordering takeaway more convenient for our diners; 50%** of whom have said they have used food delivery more than before Covid, and 33% have used takeaway collection more than before too.
