THE PERRY HILL PUB – Brand new pub opening on 12th April @ThePerryHillPub

On 12th April, The Perry Hill Pub in between Catford and Sydenham will open its doors under new ownership after a refurbishment.

The long-awaited launch will be run by Phil Sutton, who has run operations for several London companies such as Capital and Franco Manca, and his wife Oonagh McCormack (The Pig’s Ear in Chelsea, Bellevue in Clapham). The pair has founded a new group called The Doghouse Pub Company with The Perry Hill as their flagship project.

Having been closed for nearly two years, the pub has now been lovingly brought back to life with renovations to its saloon bar, lounge area and not to mention its vast outside space. In line with the lockdown guidelines, the team will open the outdoor area first, currently taking bookings from 12th April onwards.

The kitchen will be overseen by Jamie Younger, who formerly ran the successful Palmerston in East Dulwich for several years and still owns The Begging Bowl in Peckham. Head chef Eric Grapt (The Wolseley and The Hurlingham Club) has put together a menu that will showcase British comfort food classics, and dishes such as beef brisket, shredded pig’s shoulder and smoked celeriac steak make full use of the on-site smokehouse. From 17th May, the counter bar inside will offer lunchtime snacks and lighter dishes while the kitchen will open from Wednesday evenings through to the weekend for more substantial meals. A lot of love is going into a standout Sunday roast too!

The drinks menu will feature a varied beer list of rotating specials from around the country and world. The wine list will have something for everyone including a list of magnums plus a retail wine list for takeaway. The list wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of several craft perries too!

General manager Andrea Vinci has over 10 years of experience running London pubs as well as busy Meatliquor sites.

Commenting on the launch, Phil says, “We’ve taken all the best bits from our years of running pubs around London and put them all into The Perry Hill. We’re lucky to have an incredibly supportive community around us and the response has been amazing. Our hope is that the pub will become a central hub for the local area and beyond, serving as a destination for great food, drink and atmosphere.”

Outside, the area is split into a terrace, deck and back covered garden with an overall capacity of more than 250 – making it one of the largest beer gardens in South East London. Local artist, Lionel Stanhope, who is renowned in South East London for painting local railway station signs, will be painting a mural specifically for the pub. Lots more exciting projects for this space will be announced soon!

The Perry Hill will cater for everyone – whether it’s a drink in the outside garden with a friend or family lunch and day out at the kids area for locals and visitors alike.
