Italian Wine Café set to open their second site in Edinburgh

Following on from the success of their first site in Edinburgh which opened on Rose Street in 2016. Veeno, The Italian Wine Café are taking the city by storm after acquiring a new site at Edinburgh’s £650 million, Quartermile Development.
Veeno champions Italy’s after-work culture of drinking, nibbling and relaxing, and specialises in family grown Sicilian wine alongside authentic Spuntini including platters of meats, cheese and other appetisers imported from selected Italian producers. This will be Veeno’s 12th store across the UK and the second to open in Scotland.

“Quartermile is the perfect market for us and represents a great opportunity to build our brand in a vibrant, upcoming area.” said co-founder Andrea Zecchino

The story began for the company’s co-founders Nino & Andrea in 2013 when they met playing a game of football in Manchester, both missed the Italian aperitivo culture, the ritual of drinking, nibbling and relaxing after work. By the end of the year they had opened their first wine café, and the rest is history or “Il resto e’ storia” as they say in Italy!

Veeno source their wine from Nino’s family vineyard in Marsala, Sicily. The Caruso family have been growing vines there since the 19th century. Having such a close relationship between the vineyard and the wine cafés means that only the best quality wines make it from grape to glass.

The interiors design and fit-out project is being managed by The Master Key Group. Giada Schioppa architect and director of the company said “We have come a long way with Veeno, from supporting them at the early stages of the expansion to managing the full fit-out in the recently opened venues and are looking forward to making the magic happen once again”.

Veeno will open its doors at 11 Lister Square, Quartermile at 5pm on Thursday 6th July and are inviting members of the public to join them for the opportunity to enjoy a glass of Nino’s family produced wine by signing up at www.theveenocompany.com

Speaking with Nino he was full of excitement about their latest opening, “This is a really exciting time for Veeno, as well as Edinburgh we are very close to announcing a number of new cafés, we have also seen a huge amount of interest in our franchising operations and we are looking forward to supporting a number of franchisees in opening their own Veeno later in the year!”
