Le Gavroche Hits Maltby Street Market to Celebrate Partnership with Little Bird Gin

On Saturday 19th August, from 12pm – 3pm, legendary Chef, Michel Roux Jr will be at the iconic Maltby Street Market with Little Bird Gin celebrating their limited collaboration gin created for 50th birthday of Le Gavroche.   Join Michel Roux Jr and a few of the Le Gavroche Team with Laura Sullivan of Little Bird Gin for an afternoon of gin, canapés and birthday celebrations.

For one afternoon, Maltby Street Market passers-by will be in for a unique Maltby Street experience.  Laura Sullivan of Little Bird Gin will be joined at her Little Bird Gin bar, hidden under an arch underneath the famous sign for The Ropewalk, by Michel Roux Jr himself.  He’ll be there handing out Le Gavroche canapés with his daughter and fellow chef, Emily Roux. Thirsty visitors will also get the chance to sample the limited-edition anniversary gin as well as specially created cocktails designed by the Little Bird team as well as the Head Sommelier of Le Gavroche, Rémi Cousin.

The partnership began when Michel wanted to create something exciting to mark the 50th anniversary of his illustrious Mayfair dining establishment, Le Gavroche.  The special anniversary gin is unlike any other made by Little Bird Gin.  Not only is this limited-edition bottle adorned with a very French ‘Mademoiselle Ginger’ (rather than the original Miss Ginger) but has added notes of lavender to create something new especially for Le Gavroche.

“We decided we wanted to commission a special gin for the anniversary, and I had my eye on Little Bird from the get-go”, says Chef Patron Michel Roux Jr. “I’ve been a huge fan of Little Bird Gin since I first came across it.  I am a South London boy myself after all and absolutely cannot wait to get to Maltby Street Market, meet the visitors, see what they think of the gin and our food and just generally have a good time!”

For those new to Maltby Street Market, the Little Bird Gin bar is true to its vintage, fun and cheeky character.  Sat underneath the arches and filled with authentic vintage furniture, lighting and retro glassware it’s got an old-time look that is inspired by the glamour of the 1940s.

“When Michel emailed us to ask for a meeting, whilst waxing lyrical about Little Bird Original, my first thought was that it was my best friend playing a joke on us! Not the case as it turned out. We absolutely cannot wait for him to come to our quirky bar under the arches, it’s going to be such a fun day” says Laura Sullivan.
