Chef Andrew Sheridan of Sosban in Llanelli to appear on TV this summer

This summer sees the return of Great British Menu to our screens on BBC Two and Llanelli-based chef, Andrew Sheridan of Sosban, is one of three chefs representing Wales.

The competition challenges 24 of the UK’s top chefs to create exceptional dishes for a banquet to pay tribute to 70 years of the NHS with a culinary feast to say thank you.

Andrew describes the experience as “Both the hardest and the best thing I have ever done in my life. It proved to me that I’ve still got what it takes to be truly creative in the kitchen and took me straight back to my roots. At Sosban I run a team of chefs, on Great British Menu I am Head Chef, Sous Chef and Commis all at the same time! “

The other chefs representing Wales are Chris Harrod from The Whitebrook in Monmouthshire and Jason Hughes from Chateau Rhianfa, Anglesey. The chefs are challenged to create dishes with tastes unlike anything they’ve experienced before – even in the finest of restaurants – as a thank you to NHS heroes from around the country.  Once again in charge of picking the perfect four-course menu are judges Andi Oliver, Oliver Peyton OBE and Matthew Fort assisted by a formidable veteran judge.

Only two chefs will make it through to the Friday regional final where they’ll need to convince the expert panel of judges that their dishes deserve a coveted place in the national finals – and a potential spot on the final banquet menu.  You’ll have to watch to find out how Andrew gets on in the competition!

Great British Menu is due to broadcast on week day evenings this summer. Keep an eye on the programme’s website for more details: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0071y6r
