English Wine Week and Exclusive Wine Tasting Dinner at Sopwell House

English Wine Week (27 May – 4 June 2017) is the perfect opportunity not only to enjoy a tipple or two, but to become a connoisseur at the same time. Sopwell House will be celebrating the very best of English wine and produce.

During English Wine Week itself, Sopwell House will be offering a selection of Camel Valley wines by the glass in both The Brasserie and The Restaurant. Knowledgeable staff will be on hand to discuss these award-winning wines from Cornwall’s largest vineyard, which have been receiving great critical acclaim.

To continue the celebrations after English Wine Week, Sopwell House will be hosting an English Wine Tasting Dinner in The Restaurant on Thursday 22 June 2017. Restaurant Manager Stefano Litti and Head Chef of The Restaurant, Matthew Bird, have designed a menu in collaboration with Camel Valley Vineyard to showcase the importance of wine pairing with different dishes.

The evening will consist of an inventive four-course tasting menu, followed by coffee and petit fours. Mouth-watering dishes include Scottish Langoustine served with marinated Heirloom tomatoes, basil and cucumber; Cannon of Salt Marsh Lamb accompanied by Mibrasa charred Lamb, braised baby gem lettuce, garden peas, girolle mushrooms and a Lamb jus; and Dark chocolate mille-feuille, chocolate glass and mango sorbet.

Each course will be expertly matched with a Camel Valley wine, ranging from the Cornwall Brut served with canapés as an Aperitif; to the full-bodied Sparkling Red served with the Lamb course. Camel Valley is a family-run vineyard in Cornwall that was established in 1989. Camel Valley has already gained acclaim in the wine world having won several awards in the International Wine Challenge, International Wine and Spirit Competition, and Decanter World Wine Awards.
