Admiral Recruitment former apprentice has been named a finalist in The Asian Apprenticeship Awards 2019

Rima Patel, a former apprentice and now a recruitment consultant with City-based Admiral Recruitment, has been shortlisted under the ‘Retail, Hospitality & Tourism’ category of The Asian Apprenticeship Awards 2019.

The awards recognise and celebrate the superb level of talent within the British Asian community and the support they receive from their employers and learning providers.

The winners will be announced a gala dinner on Thursday 31st October 2019 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

20-year-old Rima from Ilford in Essex joined the specialist recruitment company in 2017 after completing her A-Levels at Loxford School of Science and Technology in Ilford. With the support of Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service, she applied for a one-year apprenticeship and just seven months into her apprenticeship, she was selected to join Admiral Recruitment’s consultant training programme.

Rima went on to become the first person on a 12-week induction programme to become a Junior Recruitment Consultant for Admiral Recruitment’s Commercial Division, showing how quickly she has progressed.

In March 2019 she was promoted to Recruitment Consultant and she now has sole responsibility for full account management of one of the largest office services management firms within the South East.

She sat her apprenticeship exams in May this year and received her certificate last week.

Always cheerful, Rima is a popular team member and was recently given the award for “biggest smile” at Admiral Recruitment’s in-house company awards.

Paula Rogers, founder and CEO of Admiral Recruitment, said: “We are incredibly proud of Rima who joined us as an Apprentice Talent Resourcer, and within less than two years has become a Recruitment Consultant in her own right. Despite her young age, she is very mature and level-headed and her ability to perform complex tasks accurately whilst under pressure is admirable.

“Rima has grown significantly in stature and confidence; maturing from a shy young school leaver into a confident and competent young professional. There is no ceiling for Rima; her desk is in a growth area of the business and in a team with seasoned professional’s on-hand to nurture her skills and mentor her to be a huge success.”

Admiral Recruitment’s Commercial Division places hundreds of professionals each week in temporary and permanent commercial positions for clients within corporate organisations throughout London, from property and media companies through to law firms, investment companies, high end private clubs, hotels and restaurants.

Rima said: “Admiral Recruitment has given me so much to take in and build on my experience. The support I received from day one was outstanding; my managers, colleagues and Paula Rogers have supported me on my journey since I started, and I can’t thank them enough.

“Admiral Recruitment has given me the opportunity to enhance my professional and personal development. The joy for me is getting people jobs. This is an amazing privilege at my age, and I love the fact that I am already making a difference to someone’s life and supporting individuals out there.”

Last year, Admiral Recruitment took the overall title in the Finance, Legal & Professional Services category of the Asian Apprenticeship Awards for its work with apprentices.

Diversity stands at the heart of the business, with 55% of Admiral Recruitment’s own staff coming from minority backgrounds.
