Jasmine Hemsley will be celebrating the launch of her first solo cookbook, East by West, with a soulful brunch in collaboration with Aster restaurant, as part of D&D’s Mindful City campaign. On Sunday 4th of February from 11am-3pm, the bestselling author, alongside Aster’s Executive Chef Helena Puolakka, will be hosting a four course brunch, with an exclusive talk and signed copy of her newly launched cookbook.
Curated by Jasmine herself, guests will be guided through the ancient Ayurvedic practice explored in the book, shining a light on how to look after your welfare and live with a more rewarding lifestyle and diet. Co-founder of Hemsley + Hemsley, the TV presenter, cook and best selling author will be gifting a signed copy of her new book to each guest, featuring 140 recipes from around the world, designed to nourish, sustain, repair the body and mind.
The menu will feature a selection of dishes to choose from including Golden Milk or Masala Chai; Buckwheat Banana Bread; Sunny-Side-Up Eggs with Flax Crunch, Avocado and Tomato Chutney and a warming Teff Waffles with Turmeric and Honey Drizzle. Freshly baked treats from Aster’s deli will also be offered throughout the brunch, alongside a selection of herbal teas.
East by West explores ideas touched on Jasmine’s previous books; Hemsley + Hemsley, Good + Simple and The Art of Eating Well. East by West delves into the importance of real food and tasty home cooking, balancing the body, mind and spirit against the challenges found in day-to-day life, choosing food that has a positive influence on mood.
Aster, from D&D London located within Victoria’s foodie hub Nova Food, serves an array of Nordic-French dishes. Executive chef, Helena Puolakka, originally from the south-west coast of Finland, creates Nordic cuisine taken from her Finnish heritage complemented by classic French techniques refined over her career. The 10,000 square foot space is set across two floors, comprising a café and deli on the ground floor and an upstairs restaurant and bar.
D&D’s Mindful City is a group-wide world and wellbeing initiative, working across all its restaurants. As part of its new Mindful City campaign, in a move towards reducing group waste, it will be one of the first restaurant groups to enforce a group-wide ban on plastic across their venues. Londoners have also seen most of the restaurants focusing on promoting wellness and fitness for body and soul, from moderation, meditation and motivation.
