The Parrot at the Waldorf celebrates National Piña Colada Day with new summer cocktail menu

Guests and Londoners alike will delight in the brand-new summer cocktail menu available at the iconic Waldorf Hilton’s The Parrot, an intimate tropical cocktail bar and live music venue. Inspired by the tropical home of its namesake, The Parrot’s summer menu is bursting with a new and exciting array of tropical-inspired coolers, with fresh and zesty flavourings to suit every taste. Launching this month, and be served throughout the summer, the new cocktail menu features refreshing cocktails best enjoyed in the warmer months.

The bar, nestled within the iconic Waldorf Hilton, is adding an exotic touch to its current cocktail menu with summer additions including the Parrot Puffer, a blend of Absolut Elyx Vodka packed with seasonal summer fruits and cooling ice-cream, along with the Iguaca, a fresh twist on the classic Pina Colada cocktail.

Iguaca

Made with coconut rum, clarified pineapple and topped with coconut water, The Iguaca takes its name from the Puerto Rican parrot species that took over the Amazon. A twist on the classic Pina Colada cocktail that was first created in the Hilton Puerto Rico, this cocktail was created to celebrate Hilton’s 100th Anniversary, revitalising the classic Pina Colada for a modern palette.

Parrot Puffer

Made with Absolut Elyx Vodka, seasonal fruits and vanilla ice cream, the Parrot Puffer is drizzled with syrup and served in one of the bar’s Instagram-worthy parrot shaped glasses.

Festive Amazon

Made with Leblon Cachaça, fresh lime and homemade syrup, the Festive Amazon infuses fresh flavours for a zesty, refreshing taste.

White Capped

Made with Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka, hazelnut milk, coconut rum and a blend of Colombian cold brew coffee, The White Capped cocktail provides a hearty mix of bold flavours.

Lory

Made with white tequila infused with goji berry, Drambuie, fresh lychee and lime juice, the Lory offers a punchy drink option for guests.

To accompany the cocktails, Executive Chef Karl Richardson has created a menu of vibrant and delicious small plates served on repurposed seashells. Dishes such as Wagyu beef with pickled enoki, wasabi & pineapple and poached lobster with mango, chilli coconut & lime will join Roquito peppers stuffed with cheese, served with edamame beans, macadamia nuts & yuzu and Quinoa with avocado, sesame, pomegranate & mango, bringing light, exotic flavours to this tropical hideaway.

The bar’s exotic namesake is alluded to in the interiors, from walls lined with bespoke, hand-painted palm wallpaper to lush foliage and an abundance of greenery planted throughout the space.  The plush velvet seating in rich turquoise and midnight blue alongside on-trend metallic and rattan detailing draw on the opulence of the historic hotel. The bar front itself is decorated in luxurious teal fish scale tiles beneath exposed Edison filament bulbs, conjuring the moody, atmospheric feel of the speakeasy.

Building on the history of The Waldorf as an entertainment hub nestled between five major West-End theatres, the hotel officially opened its bar, The Parrot, to guests in October 2018. Opened in collaboration with actor, DJ and Producer Idris Elba LCNC, visitors to the 60-seater bar can expect a whole host of showstopper surprises, from a hidden cocktail menu to regular, unannounced secret shows.

The space is a creative collaboration between the iconic hotel and the co-founders, who were inspired by the history of the building and, particularly, the exoticism of its historic Palm Court. Built in 1908, The Waldorf has been at the heart of London’s bustling theatreland for over a century.
