A cosy gingerbread wonderland will pop up at German Gymnasium’s terrace this

German Gymnasium’s outdoor terrace will be transformed into a magical, sugar-filled wonderland in the heart of King’s Cross this winter from December 1st until the end of January. In partnership with Maker’s Mark, guests will be welcomed to keep warm with a specially designed cocktail list while relaxing under a cluster of wooden huts that will be decorated with gingerbread style décor.

Decorating a gingerbread house is one of Germany’s most magical Christmas traditions, and German Gymnasium has pulled out all the sugar-themed stops for its gingerbread terrace. Strings of festive garlands will be draped over the peaks of wooden huts complete with festoon lighting, ambient red lanterns will twinkle amongst mini gingerbread house lights on the tables and there will be piles of cosy blankets for guests to snuggle up under and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Guests will also be able to order one of the bespoke sweet-themed cocktails from the terrace’s outdoor bar. Sticking with the gingerbread house theme, the cocktail menu features a Gingerbread Old Fashioned (Maker’s Mark bourbon and gingerbread syrup with toasted marshmallow) and Maker’s Milk (Maker’s Mark mixed with Kahlua, rum, vanilla, double cream and egg white served in a milk bottle), which is also available in a sharing size. To keep warm in the wintry weather, there will also be hot cocktails available including a Kentucky Mulled Cider (Maker’s Mark mixed with apples two ways) or Mulled Winter Pear (Maker’s Mark shaken with mulled winter pear, egg white, lemon and a dash of aromatic red wine).

While terrace outside is gingerbread themed, guests will have to step inside the impressively built Grand Café to find a festive feast. The extensive Christmas menu features some wintry German favourites as well the option to pre-order a whole festive roast goose to share with friends or family.

German Gymnasium’s gingerbread terrace will be open from 1st December until the end of January and will be open all over the festive season including on Christmas Eve (all day), Christmas Day (12-4pm), Boxing Day (all day) and New Year’s Eve.
