BIRCH WATER FIRM TAPS INTO WHISKY MARKET WITH LAUNCH OF NEW AGE ALTERNATIVE TO WATER

  • Birkentree Highland Birchwater is launching the world’s first whisky accompaniment made from birch water
  • It is endorsed by whisky expert, Max McFarlane, as a new alternative to water
  • Hand-tapped in Scotland, Birkentree is sustainably harvested from centuries-old birch trees, some of which are 250-years-old

18 August 2021: Scottish firm, Birkentree, is setting its sights on dram drinkers with the launch of new age whisky accompaniment made from birch water.

With a new generation turning their attention to whisky, the industry is diversifying to fit the demand for exploration and innovation; mixers being no exception.

An alternative to water as a whisky accompaniment, Birkentree’s unique and subtle composition naturally complements single malts.

Whisky expert, Max McFarlane, taste-tested Birkentree with a range of single malts: “Birch water is extraordinary. This precious liquid comes together to impart a luxurious smoothness; elevating the experience that drinking single malt whisky brings.”

“Birkentree will open up the conversation about the at-home drinking experience. Shaping how we guide new and existing drinkers on how to enjoy a dram in a fresh and exciting way.”

Founded by husband and wife duo Rob, a professional forester, and Gabrielle, a herbalist, the pair used their credentials to bring something truly innovative to the market.

Rob Clamp, Co-Founder of Birkentree Highland Birchwater, said: “Bringing Birkentree to life has been an exciting journey. We have always believed that birch water is truly unique and had the potential to become a natural companion for whisky.

“We know that whisky drinkers, whether that’s single malt enthusiasts or people trying their first dram, will love Birkentree from the very first sip.”

Sustainably harvested in Highland Perthshire, Birkentree is hand-tapped from centuries-old birch trees to create 100% pure birch water.

Birkentree Highland Birchwater is priced at RRP £5.95, 100ml. Birkentree recommends that each bottle is shaken vigorously before pouring and the optimum ratio of whisky to birch water is 50:50.
