Could hanging baskets be the key to a summer trade boom?

There may still be a chill in the air but now is the perfect time to think about getting your outside premise ready for the summer – and hanging baskets will be key this year.

According to leading landscaping business phs Greenleaf, it’s all about going big and bold with your choice of hanging baskets and flower troughs for 2025. Managing Director, Stephen Dieppe, shares his top tips for boosting your exterior planting for a bumper summer season.

“Your outside premise is vital for summer trade,” he says. “The hospitality market is more competitive than ever before, and an attractive and inviting exterior is proven to make a huge difference to sales, whether that is attracting customers into the premise in the first place, or creating the right atmosphere for them to stay longer and, of course, return again.

“Bright and vibrant hanging baskets and flower troughs outside a pub, restaurant or hotel are a simple, cost-effective and timeless way to instantly transform their exterior and create a positive first impression for customers.

“We install over 60,000 hanging baskets and troughs every year for our customers. We install each basket and service them throughout the season, so they always look healthy, vibrant and at their best. Each year we provide colourful designs that we know will attract the eye and create a welcoming and uplifting aesthetic that will support sales for our hospitality customers.”

phs Greenleaf has over 25 years’ experience creating hanging baskets and troughs and has developed three striking designs to make a big impression this summer:

Summer Delight – a classic mix of bright pinks, whites and vibrant violet tones that is perfect for a country garden atmosphere.

Summer Breeze – a beautiful collection of soft and bright pinks, whites and purples that will uplift any space with a traditional touch of summer.

Summer Cocktail – a dynamic design with bursts of orange, red and pink, trailing foliage and a cool Mediterranean vibe.

All phs Greenleaf plants are sourced from MPS certified growers who are committed to sustainable CSR programmes. Greenleaf uses biomass to turn green waste from its peat-free hanging baskets into energy, saving approximately 136 tonnes of CO2 in the process.
