Introducing The Saffa Bru at Woolton, a new dining experience in a stunning venue

Woolton Farm in Bekesbourne nr Canterbury, the home of award-winning cider producer Kentish Pip, partners with The Saffa Bru (Afrikaans for ‘South African brother’) at The Barn, to launch an exciting new dining experience this summer.

Housed in an original structure dating back to the 14th Century, this historic Kentish Tithe Barn now features a new outdoor BBQ kitchen, in addition to the bar, shop and café.

Set in its own fruit garden at the centre of Woolton Farm, the vineyard, cidery and a host of accommodation options are a short walk away.

Discover the new kitchen menu

Ready just in time for the summer season, The Saffa Bru at Woolton is a collaboration between Woolton and South African chef Keaton Randall.  Well-known in Kent for his delicious South African inspired street food, Keaton will be serving up his South African fare cooked fresh over a wood fired BBQ with a Woolton Farm twist.

As well as being a tasty lunch option, the menu features a wide variety of dishes and big sharing boards that are ideal for sharing feasts with friends and family so everyone can enjoy a good selection of dishes. Choose from the Butcher’s BBQ Board, a feast of lamb chops, boerewors, rump steak kebabs, garlic & thyme chicken skewers, corn on the cob, house tomato chutney and chimichurri; the Mussel Pot, cooked using Kentish Pip cider; and, several vegan options.

In addition to the BBQ menu, The Barn will also be offering a new brunch menu from Friday to Monday. The new Brunch and BBQ menus at Woolton can be found here: https://www.wooltonfarm.co.uk/pages/copyofmenu

Woolton Farm prides itself on serving a curated list of craft ciders, English wines, and a locally sourced menu. All the drinks are produced and sourced nearby, including their very own Kentish Pip cider and international award-winning Woolton wines.

Launch event

To celebrate the opening of their new kitchen and menu, Woolton held a summer launch event on Saturday 11 June which saw guests enjoy an exclusive vineyard walk, tour and wine-tasting by Woolton’s Managing Director, Sam Mount. At the event attendees sampled the delicious South African BBQ before glamping overnight in the instagrammable bell tents.

Says Sam Mount, Woolton’s Managing Director: “We’re excited to be serving up a feast for the senses this summer on the farm, combining Keaton’s delicious South African fare with our own Woolton Farm twists.  It’s a fabulous dining experience – a relaxed affair made for sharing with friends and family in a stunning setting.  The feedback from guests so far has been fantastic.”

Summer glamping at Woolton

For those looking to extend their stay, Woolton Farm offers plenty of accommodation options including three self-catered properties: The Oast and Old Tannery, which are located on the Village Green in Littlebourne, while Ellens Cottage sits in the centre of the farm with a huge garden overlooking a wild meadow.

For glampers, Woolton also offer eight bell tents, tucked away in a fruit garden behind the barn. The tents are well spaced along the back of the gardens, nestled in a row of cobnut trees with views into the fruit garden and onto the barn.

Just a stone’s throw from The Barn, dedicated campers can pitch up their tents in Ellen’s Meadow for a budget friendly outdoor escape.

The Saffa Bru at Woolton is now serving a Brunch menu from 9 – 11am, Friday to Monday and a BBQ menu from 12 – 9pm (available from the 11th June to 3rd October).
