Kensington’s 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London introduces new pre-concert menu to celebrate the return of the world’s greatest annual classical music festival

To celebrate the return of the world’s greatest annual classical music festival held at London’s Royal Albert Hall, 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London, a contemporary design led hotel located in Kensington, is introducing a specially created pre-concert menu in its glamorous ESQ Bar setting.

For those looking for a special evening of dining and musical entertainment, the pre-concert menu will be available for visitors to book during the festival – from Friday 19th July through to Saturday 14th September. Ahead of the world class performances this summer, hotel guests and Londoners alike will be invited to indulge in an array of classical music inspired, mouth-watering dishes and refreshing tipples.

A stone’s throw away from the UK’s most treasured concert hall, the ESQ Bar, is nestled within 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel. For a limited time, the hotel will offer a selection of pre-concert sharing set menus for guests to choose from that include the Symphonie Fantastique, The Lost Words and Elgar’s The Music Makers.

The Lost Words

The cocktail and food pairing in The Lost Words sharing set menu takes its inspiration from the bestselling book, The Lost Words, which responds to the art and language that has been lost through time and has inspired many classical musical projects.

The cocktail available with this set menu aims to bring the forgotten flavours of childhood to life, sweet to taste and served with yellow rose petals. The cocktail is paired with a small plate of peppered mackerel to complement the light and delicate citrus flavours. The dish is topped with a vanishing foam, gin infused espuma.

The Lost Words pre-concert set menu is £35 for two to share

Symphonie Fantastique

The Symphonie Fantastique sharing set menu takes its inspiration from a piece of programme music that tells the story of an artist gifted with a lively imagination in hope of love.

The cocktail available with this set menu is made with red wine and hazelnut liqueur, infused with caramel and spices, topped with soda water. The food pairing with this cocktail is a savoury small plate of beetroot and goat’s cheese macaroons along with a dessert plate of Eton Mess, made with strawberries and cream. This combination promises to be the perfect symphony.

Elgar’s The Music Makers

The Elgar’s The Music Makers set menu is inspired by a piece of music composed by one of the forefront English composers of the late 19th century. The masterpiece cocktail that is offered with this set menu contains bestselling ingredients such as home-made rose lemonade with a blend of 3 signature gins. The savoury dish paired with this cocktail in this set menu is a small plate of crab and lobster croquettes, served with a radish remoulade.

100 Queen’s Gate Hotel’s ESQ bar has been designed as a discreet drinking den, inspired by the parlour bar of former resident, Victorian aristocrat William Alexander, and his exotic travels. Here guests can explore crafted cocktails and innovatively infused spirits, in a relaxing and intimate ‘home away from home’ setting, complete with eclectic curios and artifacts evoking the grand expeditions of a bygone era. Two neighbouring private dining rooms can also be booked for an exclusive gastronomical experience or intimate meetings.

The hotel was the former home of Victorian aristocrat William Henry Alexander, and as such has been stunningly transformed into a hotel that embraces the building’s heritage, retaining much of its original 1870s architecture.
