At Tuesday evening’s annual Time Out London Bar Awards, Punch Room at The London EDITION was unveiled as the winner of 2016 Bar of the Year. Punch Room, a fumed-oak panelled den inspired by the comfort of English country manor house libraries and nineteenth-century London’s private clubs, was also the winner of the Most Stylish Bar award.
Headed up by Bar Manager, Davide Segat, Punch Room serves up modern and traditional punches in the RSVP-only venue as patrons sink into tufted banquettes in teal velvet, overstuffed mint green leather tub chairs, and dark brown leather club chairs in front of a roaring fire.

Featuring a daily changing punch, the Punch Room’s ethos places heavy emphasis on the social aspect of sharing and discussion with punch bowls available for 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 people and costing £14 per person. Segat has developed a menu befit for both refined gentlemen and ladies that punch, including the EDITION house punch, available all year round. Easy going and aromatic, the EDITION punch is made up with jasmine tea and a subtle hint of wood from the oak moss syrup.
The wins come as Punch Room returns from its Punch on the Road series, where the bar has popped-up at some of the world’s best bars, from Singapore’s The Cufflink Club, to New York’s The Dead Rabbit.
In May 2016, Punch Room launched a VOGUE100 Punch. Celebrating the magazine’s centenary, with a fashionable gin-based perfume syrup, lavender and tobacco notes and topped with a vanilla and lipstick foam.
Punch Room also offers an afternoon tea concept Scandal Water, where light bites, including jasmine infused chocolate ganache are paired with teas by the Rare Tea Co and perfectly matched punch.
The Punch Room is inspired by the grand traditions of Great Britain: the traditional, aristocratic English country manor and the quintessential London private gentleman’s club with a modern, edgy, urban feel.
