Catering Design Group (CDG), the award-winning restaurant and commercial kitchen design company, has won a succession of referrals and repeat business worth over £1m, including projects with At-Bristol, one of the UK’s largest interactive science centres, whilst also being re-commissioned by Kingston University.
Listed as one of Britain’s top 10 visitor attractions and situated in the vibrant millennium square in Bristol city centre, At-Bristol customers will reap the benefits of a re-designed café space. Due to its location, the café will need to stand out in an area densely populated by branded High Street competition. CDG will create a vibrant, modern café by day, transforming by night, into an evening venue with a bar for hosting events. Highly acclaimed children’s author and illustrator, Alan Snow, has been commissioned to create an interactive feature wall. Snow is best known for the book ‘Here Be Monster’s,’ which was made into the successful animation film, Boxtrolls in 2014.
The Beacon, independent day school for boys in Amersham, has appointed CDG to design and build a new kitchen and servery area, in keeping with the school’s modern philosophy. With the dining room in a listed building with no further capacity to expand, the project will require meticulous design, within restricted planning parameters. The design will also cleverly incorporate multi-functional equipment to allow for an adaptable menu style throughout the week.
EEF, the Birmingham based industry body for engineering and manufacturing, has commissioned CDG to design, supply and install two kitchen and servery areas to support its ground and first floor restaurants within the training facility. The brief will require CDG to create synergy between the two areas, whilst also embracing the different service styles of each of the restaurants. Both kitchens will be open plan to allow customers to watch their food being freshly prepared. In addition to the kitchen and servery areas, the upper floor will also house a space for bakery production, together with staff changing and office space.
CDG will return to Kingston University for its fourth project in two years. The business will dramatically enhance the experience for students, to deliver a high-street feel across seven areas, including a newly branded coffee outlet, a theatre station and a new grab and go facility.
