[13 December, 2016] Jamie Welch has been appointed executive chef at London Marriott Hotel County Hall. His appointment follows the hotel’s multimillion pound renovation and official relaunch in November. The iconic 206 room London hotel has been completely transformed combining the best of British history with cutting edge contemporary hotel design.
Executive chef Jamie will head up Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, which offers top quality British produce and cuisine together with panoramic views of Parliament and other iconic landmarks along the South Bank. Originally the seat of the Greater London Council, Gillray’s at London Marriott Hotel County Hall continues to showcase many of the property’s original features including the Division Bell, used for deciding which members of the council were for or against a notion as well as sketches from 18th century caricaturist James Gillray.
Jamie has worked at Marriott Hotels for almost 15 years including London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square and Marriott Meon Valley in Southampton. Jamie was instrumental in building the food and beverage team at Marriott Hotel Sisli Turkey as well as pivotal to the success of Marriott Grosvenor Square’s meeting space and catering concept Meetings Imagined®, which was later rolled out globally. Other notable achievements include winning the accolade of Marriott Chef of the Year and becoming a member of the European Culinary Advisory Board for UK & London.
