The Wellesley, a Luxury Collection Hotel has reopened the Cigar Terraces and Lounge,
welcoming guests back to savour and sample some of the world’s finest cigars from Europe’s largest hotel
humidor.
Open now, The Wellesley’s private, alfresco Cigar Terraces are covered by a close-fitting canopy and feature
two open fireplaces, creating a unique atmosphere as one of the most exceptional places to enjoy the finest
cigars in London, whatever the weather. Offering seclusion and a much-needed elegant retreat, the Cigar
Terraces are enclosed by bespoke sculptural screens designed by Lee Simmons and made up of thousands of
individually cast bronze buds. The artwork reflects and captures the essence of the adjacent Hyde Park, whilst
also revealing glimpses of the hotel’s iconic backdrop for the ultimate experience for cigar aficionados and novices alike.
The Cigar Lounge features a climate-controlled room, housing the largest hotel humidor in Europe and
showcasing over £1.5 million worth of the world’s finest cigars. It is the biggest collection of cigars sold on a stick-by-stick basis in Europe, many of the cigars being limited edition.
Humidor specialist, Giuseppe Ruo and his fully trained team of cigar experts are on-hand to advise in selecting
cigars that are tailored to personal tastes, whether that’s a Montecristo, a Cohiba, or a limited-edition Bolivar,aswell as cutting and lighting for any beginners. Private cigar masterclasses with The Wellesley’s in-house cigar experts are available on request.
A range of cocktails matched with the cigar selection will be mixed on demand too. The bar team is available to
advise on how to find the perfect drink to partner with a mild cigar, a medium bodied or a fuller, spicy choice,
whether that’s an expertly mixed Negroni, Martini or Mojito or one of the signature cocktails including the ‘Not
Only Old Fashioned’ and ‘Sherry Cask’.
