A night of regional paella, aioli and Spanish sparkling wine to celebrate World Paella Day in Fitzrovia
This World Paella Day, London’s premier Valencian restaurant Arros QD is throwing a paella & bubbles event to celebrate the much-loved dish. On Thursday 23 September Londoner’s will be able to join in the global celebrations with a paella tasting menu curated the restaurant’s multi-Michelin starred Spanish chef patron, Quique Dacosta – the chef who has dedicated his career to perfecting the art of the wood-fired paella.
“For people to understand us, they need to look into the fire. When you are completely serious and you put paella on the table, things become more friendly. Paella is our celebration. And we’re here to celebrate!” Quique Dacosta
Tickets (£80pp) include welcome snacks and Valencian cocktails, followed by dinner in the open-plan restaurant where guests will see the chefs in action – watching the flames from the wood-fired stoves as they prepare their paellas, the traditional way. Alongside the dishes comes a flight of well-matched Spanish sparkling wines – the drink best served with paella. All accompanied by live flamenco guitar music to set the tone.
To start there’s three of Arros’ signature dishes, vibrant red prawns from Quique’s hometown, Dénia, Valencian citrus kale salad and Iberian presa atop Jerusalem artichoke puree. Then three traditional, regional ‘rice-in-paella’ dishes, served sharing style. Paella Valenciana (rabbit, chicken, Garrofó beans and rosemary) Arroz del Senyoret (seafood rice) as well as striking Black ink rice with Basque cod, seasonal sugar snaps and pil pil emulsion. As is the Spanish way, each rice will be served with a selection of aioli: traditional, black garlic and Ñora pepper. For dessert it’s traditional Valencian “Naranja”, made with orange sorbet, blood orange pearls and fresh mint.
Tickets also include a take-home gift from Arros QD and Quique – enabling guests to master the art of paella making at home!
