One of the UK’s most sustainable meal kits founded by Michelin Star chef bursts onto the at home dining scene
Michelin culinary experience company You Be Chef has today announced a premium new look, set to inspire at-home chefs to cook up a storm, as the nights start to draw in and dinner party season begins.
Born out of a desire to raise the bar for shared mealtimes with friends and family, Michelin Star chef Robert Thompson has created a premium take on the ‘Makeaway’ meal kit trend, providing foodies with the inspiration and knowledge required to achieve moments of luxury in their own homes, whilst also putting the fight against food waste at the heart of the culinary experience.
Featuring weekly-changing menus, which can be ordered up to four weeks in advance to bring dishes bursting with in-season, quality ingredients to your doorstep, You Be Chef is a novel way to create restaurant quality food at home, all made with sustainably sourced produce from the Isle of Wight. Furthermore, with reducing food waste a key focus for the brand, the weekly menu model means the company only cooks exactly what is needed for each week, so nothing is wasted.
Consumers can simply head to the website, share their dinner party requirements and then sit back and let the experts at You Be Chef take care of the rest!
How it works:
- Step One: Head to the You Be Chef and select how many you will be cooking for and your preferences. Will you want one course or three? Fancy two starters or a main? Design it your way!
- Step Two: The experts behind the scenes will then prepare your meal, using only the freshest ingredients from local suppliers or team foraging days where food is hand-picked.
- Step Three: When your box arrives, follow the simple instructions or watch the engaging step-by-step videos created for the weekly set menus and extra dishes, adding a truly personal touch to the experience. Simply follow the instructions to learn from a leading chef in the comfort of your own kitchen, providing everything needed to create a truly exceptional culinary experience with ease.
- Step Four: Amaze yourself and your guests with a Michelin quality meal, served at home.
Robert Thompson, Chef Owner and Founder comments, “At You Be Chef we believe food is so much more than nourishment. Its aroma, colours, aesthetics and flavours bring pleasure and spark joy in people’s lives. Over the past year, where we have been forced to spend more time indoors and in our own kitchens, people have embraced coming together over mealtimes – a joyous time of day that deserves that extra special touch once in a while. It was this passion for shared mealtimes, coupled with my love for spending time in the kitchen and creating restaurant quality food, that meant You Be Chef was born.
“Sustainability is really important to me and I relish the chances I have to get out, explore and forage on the Isle of Wight. Our model has been carefully created to alleviate food waste, so people can cook with confidence, knowing that they are doing their bit for our beautiful planet as they enjoy exceptional quality meals in the comfort of their own homes.”
In addition to set menus, extra dishes can also be ordered to elevate the premium experience, such as the Baked Truffle and Cheese Gougeres. Often served in restaurants Gougeres are made with warm Parmesan cheese and have a truffle salt centre. Cooks can simply put the pastry-based Gougeres onto grease proof paper provided and oven bake for 6-8 minutes while entertaining guests.
Making it even easier to be green, everything you need to create your weekly menu at home will arrive in a sustainable You Be Chef box, with 95% of packaging compostable by the end of 2021. This means that almost even if it ends up in landfill, packaging will just decompose without harming the planet.
